  3. The keratometer readings (central corneal curvature) are important to determine:

  5. the amount of corneal toricity

  7. if a rigid lens will correct the 
  8. astigmatic error or if there will 
  9. be any residual astigmatism.

  11. the base curve of the first 
  12. diagnostic lens (especially rigid 
  13. lenses)

  15. if there is any induced change in 
  16. the corneal curvature due to the 
  17. wearing of the contact lenses 
  18. (for comparison at later visits)
